73rd WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY (WHA) was conducted by the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) virtually. During the virtual session, WHO has warned the world leaders of a new pandemic and urged them to prepare themselves for the new challenge.
In its press release, the WHO has said, “We must prepare for the next pandemic now. We’ve seen this past year that countries with robust health emergency preparedness infrastructure have been able to act quickly to contain and control the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.”
It is almost a year since the whole world is facing great issues due to the novel coronavirus. WHO also shared their perspective on how many nations have successfully curbed the spread of the novel coronavirus. WHO said, “Although this is a global crisis, many countries and cities have successfully prevented or controlled transmission with a comprehensive, evidence-based approach.” These lines from WHO clearly indicates that few nations had proved that covid-19 could be stopped from multiplying.
WHO clearly highlighted how a healthy, happy, and stable world is possible if each country can act according to them and develop their healthcare services. WHO said, “The COVID-19 pandemic is a sobering reminder that health is the foundation of social, economic, and political stability.”
The international body again said that it was completely unpredictable that something like covid-19 would take birth and take away the lives of people worldwide. The WHO said, “The world has rallied behind a plan to accelerate the development of the vaccines, diagnostics, and therapeutics we need, and to ensure they are available to all countries based on equity.”
Meanwhile, WHO has also discussed its plan and shared its decision to tackle worldwide health issues in the next 10 years. They discussed its Immunization Agenda 2030, the Decade of Healthy Ageing 2020- 2030, with steps to curb tuberculosis, eye care, cervical cancer, preparedness against influenza, and food safety.
