The year 2020 is not the year we expected, and constant negative headlines are making it worse. The world is getting affected by the spread of Covid-19, and all the known faces of the earth are testing positive. From world politicians to all the artists of the world, everyone is getting affected. Recently the news of Amitabh Bachchan being positive of the virus shocked the world. Subsequently, all the family members are tested positive, too, including Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.
Bollywood has had quite a few shocks this year. Initially, the death of famous actor Irrfan Khan disturbed the film fraternity, which was then followed by the death of famous veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. This was and then followed by the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput, which is still making the headlines. None of these deaths was expected, but somehow the country managed to digest them.
A new headline is in the making, which can affect several in the film industry. Recently the actor Sanjay Dutt was tested and is diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. For those who aren’t aware of the stages, let’s say it is deadly. Stage 4 cancer is not good news.
On Saturday, Sanjay Dutt complained of breathing problems and was rushed to the hospital. His breathing was fluctuating from 90-92%. Like many, the first thought came of COVID-19 and was tested. The results, however, were favorable, and he was tested negative. However, the problem of breathing kept rising and later went through a diagnosis. The results show that he had cancer and is continuously developing fluids in his chest.
Tuesday morning, he tweeted a photo that said, “Hi friends, I am taking a short break from my work for some medical treatment. My family and fans are with me, and I urge my well-wishers not to panic and unnecessarily speculate. With your love & well wishes, I will be back soon!”. Though he didn’t reveal anything, however later that day, this news escalated rapidly.
Despite hospital staff keeping this information classified, it didn’t take much time to make it to the headlines. One of the initial actors who bought up this news was Adhyayan Summan, who tweeted by saying, “Sanju sir diagnosed with lung cancer 🙁 #sanjaydutt get well soon, sir. This year why are you doing this?”
His wife Maanayata Dutt talked to his fans through twitter and said, “I want to thank everyone who has expressed their well wishes for Sanju’s speedy recovery. We need all the strength and blessings to overcome this phase. There is a lot that our family has gone through in the past years, but I believe this too shall pass. However, it is my heartfelt request to Sanju’s fans not to fall prey to speculations and unwarranted rumors, but to help us with their ongoing love, warmth, and blessing. Sanju has always been a fighter, and so has our family. God has yet again chosen to test us to overcome the challenges ahead. All we seek is your blessings and good wishes, and we know we will emerge as winners on the other side, as we always have. Let’s use this opportunity to spread light and positivity,”
Many other celebs, including Raveena Tandon and Urmila Matondkar, shared their support over different means of social media. Among the cricketers, Yuvraj Singh, who had battled this disease earlier, also shared his blessings by tweeting, “You are, have and always will be a fighter @duttsanjay. I know the pain it causes, but I also know you’re strong and will see this phase through. My prayers and best wishes for your speedy recovery.”
Hospital staff, while speaking to Hindustan Times, mentioned that he would be flying to the United States for further treatment. Sanjay Dutt has already postponed the majority of his offline work, including movies like Prithviraj with Akshay Kapoor, Shamshera with Ranbir Kapoor, and Torbaaz with Nargis Fakhri.
As of now, things are not certain and are quite jumbled up, and this year is showing no signs of stopping. This news making headlines is disturbing for many fans and is enough to ruin the day. Further procedures are not yet known, but we are keeping track of all the things involved.
